I felt compelled to write today because it's 7am, my mother in law is in town, and i'm already up and awake and things have been good. Holy run-on sentence, Batman.
Physical therapy is going slow, but I've finally got permission to go back to the gym, so I'm rather excited. I won't be doing much other than working on my balance and strengthening my core, but it's progress.
My mother in law is in town and it's fabulous. She is doing all the cooking and cleaning and letting me rest as necessary. Yesterday was a bad health day so I spent the entire day in bed while she went hiking, shopping and site seeing with the husband. Somehow I woke up at 4pm and my apartment was cleaner than it's ever been and my laundry was almost completely done. Did I mention she cooks?? Yeah, I love this woman.
I'm also up early because the Supreme Court operates on EST and I need to be up for this. I'm thrilled that the government is finally working towards a more equal status for all Americans. Now if we can just get Prop 8 struck down and do something about Monsanto, I'll be a happy girl.
UPDATE: PROP 8 RULED UNCONSTITUTIONAL!! I am crying with happiness. Having lived in California, and most recently West Hollywood, for the last 5 years, I've witnessed firsthand how devastating the giving and taking away of an essential right to marry the one you love has been. One of my neighbors got married, and the very next day Prop 8 was passed. We mourned with them, and as a city we have mourned and fought for this day. I pray (yes, pray), that the bigotry and ignorance will die down and we can treat everyone as EQUALS.
And yes, I'm playing Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's Same Love on repeat.

Back to business. My diet has improved greatly since my mother in law showed up. Homegirl wears a size 6, goes on 6 mile hikes and unknowingly eats at least 80% paleo. She's in her 60s. I have a lot to learn from her and I'm so grateful that she is here.
My physical recovery has slowed down a bit, but I'm on schedule for PT 3x a week and I'm trying to get to the pool at least 2x a week. It's nice to be able to move again.

And finally, welcome to all of my new readers. I'll be posting more regularly as I have more energy.
