Friday Catch Up

Things have been incredibly busy for me lately, although sleeping until noon doesn't seem like a good indication. I have had lots of appointments, calls to be made, insurance to deal with, friends and family to love, dogs to cuddle, art projects to begin, episodes of West Wing to watch...you know, the usual.

It's funny that I never really used a paper planner or my google calendar very much when I was working, but I live by it now. On average I have 4-5 medical appointments each week. I am also trying to be more social and see my friends in between, and get in quality time with the husband.

Speaking of which, we went on a drive of the Angeles National Forest, which is really our backyard, last Sunday and it was amazing. I saw everything from beautiful views of Castaic Lagoon to The Painted Turtle Camp where I sent kids with lupus to summer camp when I was working, to the fire-ravaged areas of the forest. That broke my heart. But otherwise it was simply splendid.

My first cytoxan (chemo) treatment is scheduled for Tuesday morning. I'll be receiving 500mg of chemo and 500mg of solumedrol (steroids) at the same time. I was told that I need to put an ice pack on my head so I lose less hair, and I should be prepared to sleep for a good long time afterwards. Considering everything I've been through in the last year, it doesn't sound soooo bad. And the first treatment is one treatment closer to remission. I am going to try to maintain as normal a life as possible - I'm still planning on doing things with people, but I am thinking there will be a lot of giggling in my living room.

If you're in the area and not a complete stranger/freak of nature, swing on by. I'll be here :)

On a final note, this week a 13 year old girl responded to one of my posts and I can't find it! I know what post it is, but for some reason blogger is not letting me get to it or respond.

So here's my response. Honey, you are 13 and are taking lupus head on. I'm proud of you and please know that I'm sending good thoughts your way. Rock on and I'm here if you ever want to chat.
