Saturday Confessional

I am feeling blah, ya'll. This recovery period has been rough on me and I've had no motivation for the last several weeks to do much of anything. I am not working at the moment, nor will be for a while, due to my illness, but I'm okay enough that I can do some light exercise and I'm JUST.NOT.FEELING.IT.

There, I've said it. I've lost my mojo, my juju, my swag, my motivation to get up, use free weights, exercise before the sun fully comes up, or even get to the yoga mat on a regular basis.

You know I'm all about accountability, so I figured if I put it out there, hopefully you can help me get back on track. I want to have the motivation, but it's been lost in the sea of blahs lately. I'm trying - I took two walks this morning - but it's rough going.

What do you do to snap out of a funk? How to you get your exercise motivation back?

  1. It's okay to take a little break. When you are ready to start exercising again, just start slowly and build from there everyday. Keep us updated on you're progress! I removed my last comment due to a grammar error. :-)

  3. I too have had motivational issues at times. You've got to focus on the good and not the bad. You took two walks and that is a step in the right direction. You walked. Focus on that, and then say what can I do next? Your body is telling you to take it slow. Don't be so hard on yourself. You have to listen to your body and be patient. Keep your head up. You are awesome!!

  4. I usually tel my self to take a break then push myself harder. I think I like living a life of insanity.

    1. Thanks for the support. I think I've been giving myself such a hard time that it hasn't seemed like any fun to start again.

  6. I think it's all about scheduling and making it a habit. Once you do schedule it, then you'll HAVE to do it!

  7. I agree with all of the above PLUS never underestimate the power of music. Be it an up tempo beat and melody that you can belt out or a sad song to sob over, it'll get your emotions working, and with that it'll get the rest of you working too. It may take a couple of tries, but that's a homework that's not too unpleasant.

  8. For me, I have to be "in the mood" just one day. Once I get going, I'm good, it's just finding that one day to kick start it all!

    1. I feel the same way but expected that one day to have arrived a month ago.

  9. I start with some yoga instead of going straight in to a cardio workout. That helps me get my mindset back on taking care of my body.

  10. Sometimes it's hard to break out of a rut but maybe remembering how good it feels and how rewarding accomplishments are might help.
