I woke up this morning feeling a bit lousier than usual, but made it to my doctor's appointment for my monthly infusion. I frequently refer to this as my happy juice, as it is by far the most effective treatment for my lupus. I tend to get sick right as the last infusion is wearing off, so I didn't think anything of it. When I got there, I was running a high fever for me (I run really cold), but didn't really have any other symptoms so I got my happy juice. I had a really unpleasant infusion experience, which I won't go into here, but treated myself to some tomato soup after my doctor told me to go home and sleep, since I fell asleep in the infusion chair. (That NEVER happens, and I usually work through my infusions - yes, with an IV in my hand I'm working away).
After my yummy tomato soup, I fell asleep for a much needed nap and woke up with a full blown cold. I called work to let them know I was still feverish, and after a heated debate over where we'll have lunch on Friday after the retreat - which boiled down to who had the best desserts - I got lots of love and teasing. It made me happy.

And I realized that the happy juice had done it's job because lupus-wise I feel pretty darn okay. So I did my 35 squats and 30 second wall sit. I'm holding off for a while on my situps and yoga, as I'm exhausted, but I am not going to let a cold stop me.

If I am not letting lupus get in the way, there's no way the common cold is going to stop me from getting in at least SOME of my fitness goals today :)
