New Month, New Beginnings, New Exercise Commitment

Generally people see December as a time to wind down, hibernate, and basically take a break from the grind of the year's worth of activities. To a certain extent, I do too. From work, from the pressures that I put on myself, from a lot of things.

But I also see this as a great time to ramp up my exercise and fitness activities. I now have more free time than I do any other month of the year, so I want to take advantage of it.

I woke up at 5:30 am realizing that I have a 10am work conference call and I left all of my materials at work. There goes the idea of getting to the 8:30 yoga class (ends at 10 and across town from my office). So what's a girl to do??? Go back to sleep, of course! It's 5:30 in the friggin morning!

After tossing and turning, I got up at 7 and decided to get in some exercise while the dog and husband are sleeping peacefully. I mentioned a few days ago that I can't do a sit-up for my life. Just doesn't happen. Well, I did ten this morning. And I held plank for 30 seconds (impressive since I have horrifically weak arms). I did 20 squats to start the December squat challenge, and then did 30 minutes of yoga. I'm feeling tingly and refreshed and ready to take on the day.

I plan on leaving home in the next 45 minutes so I can get some shopping done before heading into the office for the call, and then I'm off to be a hair model for a friend who is auditioning for a stylist job. Then I'm heading home to clean and nap, and get ready for a birthday party tonight.

I figure if I have enough time to do all that other stuff, I can fit in at least 30 minutes a day to do SOMETHING fitness related.

December Challenge is ON!
